A new study shows an increased risk of developing bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder * (PTSD) if one has been exposed to tetrachlorethylene (PCE), a chemical which is used in dry cleaning. Leaking relining! PCE is also used in the coating on the inside of water pipes, called relining. When vinyl relining in a neighborhood of Cape Cod, Canada, it was thought that the material was fully cured, but it turned out that the PCE leaked into the drinking water in high concentrations. dry-cleaning-chemical-can-Increase-risk-of-bipolar Those who were exposed to PCE were at 80% increased risk of developing bipolar disorder and 50% increased risk for PTSD *. At high exposures, the risk was even higher for both syndromes. One hopes that this type of relining is not used here (?). (Read about Bisphenol A in water?) *) It sounds strange that with PTSD - must not have been exposed to trauma, to develop it, or it was enough dry chemical?
