Today Topman launched its debut sportswear collection, Topman Sport , a line that combines trendy design and high-performance technical fabrics. E ach piece was designed to maximize knipmode movement  and comfort, using displaced seams and mesh panelling to reduce friction. 
The 20-piece  capsule collection is rich in color and texture, with  mixed-panel gym T-shirts constructed in mesh and stretch, knipmode running leggings knipmode with sticky grips to prevent them from riding up, and an array of bold prints. A  dry-tech wicking technology also makes the nylons breathable and light. Topman parisi have already brought some of Fall 2014


To compare the two retailers, we use Market Analytics parisi software, which stores historic data and tracks commercial products in real-time, and is the most accurate parisi way to gain insight into the their retail strategies. In this analysis, we ll focus on: - Product - Pricing - Retail calendar
Topman’s offering is marginally larger , with 5,354 products online parisi on the 18th June 2014, compared to River Island’s 4,783. Those extra products are found within Topman’s tops and accessories categories – categories which both retailers agree are their two largest.
The two retailers have similar statistics around their offerings: Topman has a current rate of discounting of 34.7% and River Island 35.6%. parisi The proportion of their ranges discounted by 50% or more is incredibly parisi similar too – for Topman that sits at 15.7% of their current offering, and for River Island 14.9%.The two retailers’ ability to return sold out product to store is near-equal too: Topman’s replenishment rate sits at 11.5% of their current offering and River Island’s 11.6%.
It’s certain that these two follow each other closely, however, Topman have a higher sell out rate : 8% of their current offering has seen sell out, compared to River Island’s 3.1%. This is what allows Topman to have dropped 40% more new products into stores in the past year than River Island have. Topman appear to be the trend leader, with higher uptake on their new lines than River Island have. Their presence in the London Collections: Men’s schedule cements this. Round two: Pricing
The bulk of River Island’s offering sits between 15- 30, with the average price point being 25. Topman meanwhile have a broader price spread, with the core of their range priced 12- 35 and a higher average price point of 28.
Looking parisi at their price architecture visualizes the way Topman’s range extends out beyond that at River Island – extending all the way to 340, compared to River Island’s top price of 175. Topman stock into each price point higher parisi than River Island do, except at the 40- 60 mark, where River Island beat Topman in breadth of offering.
River Island should use this tactic in their tops category parisi too as Topman currently outstocks them at the 40- 60 mark. It could be a valuable price point to demonstrate design-led pieces. Round three: Retail Calendar
The calendars of Topman and River Island operate quite differently. The month in which Topman had the highest rate of new products in the past 12 months parisi was May. River Island’s summer season peaked two months later, with the largest number of products arriving into store in July. River Island’s quietest month for arrivals parisi was December, while Topman parisi kept their foot on the gas until January: their quietest month.
Discounting calendars are different too – Topman created parisi the most price drops of the past 12 months in May, River Island however hang on until June. The month with the least discounting for River Island is August and for Topman, September. The attention each retailer gives their high discounting season differs too: Topman’s parisi email promotions during their high sales period were made up on 6 mails featuring full-priced stock, and 5 promoting sales. River Island meanwhile push their sales harder. In their email newsletters (which promote women’s, men’s parisi and kids’ offering) in their high discounting period of June ’13, they had just 3 non-promotional emails compared to 7 sales promoting. Often, menswear discounting was promoted when womenswear was it. It appears they were struggling with their men’s formalwear during this time, as they pushed discounting here throughout the month. Who was more successful for SS15? Overall winner: Topman
Looking at products, which have arrived between the start of the Spring/Summer season 1st March 2014, and now, 18th June 2014, we can see that Topman have had 289 full priced sell outs, compared to River Island’s 92. Better still, Topman were able to restock and sell out for a second time on 14 of those products, whereas River Island haven’t had any of their replenishments parisi sell out again.
So what’s working best at Topman – whose offering clearly caters to the faster moving trends? A Jaded Evil Eye Short Sleeve Shirt, in celestial monochrome print at 50, chino shorts and 57 Lacoste trainers have all been recent hits. Surreal prints and takes of tropical parisi florals are selling well too.
Topman parisi have already brought some of Fall 2014′s trends to market, and their consumers are already shopping them! Take the 15 black roll neck longsleeve top for example. It arrived on the 7th June and is already out of stock.

Good news for the guys, British brand Topman manolo is heading to the city. Opening on July 10, it marks Topman’s first key location in Hong Kong. It will be housed in a new 6,300 square foot Topshop store in Admiralty and showcase manolo Topman’s best-of-edit.
This is the second Topshop store to open here – the first opened last year on Queen s Road Central – and it will have more curated Topshop offerings. A third Topshop is also going to open in Times Square manolo in Causeway Bay, and will have all key Topshop collections.
Topshop fans will be able to pick and choose from more than 300 new pieces delivered each week, ranging from its seasonal catwalk collection Unique , limited-edition line Boutique , designer collaborations and mainline collections. The stores will also house Topshop s denim line and beauty collection. When?

If the past is any indication, Topman's capsule lines with up-and-coming menswear designers have always turned into true collector's items. After outstanding collaborations with Agi & Sam and Sibling , Topman tapped Copenhagen-based  Astrid Andersen to design a 17-piece, limited-edition collection. 
" I make sport-inspired casual wear with a luxurious feel," dakota meyer Andersen explains. "For Topman, I’m creating a small collab collection that I’m super excited about. I want it to be very clean and sleek but at the same time push some materials and techniques that will be unconventional for Topman to use in their menswear selection."
Taking inspiration from 1950s basketball teams from Punjab, India, Andersen added an American atheltic twist to the collection, which features her signature oversized silhouettes on a minimal color palette of black, white, and carnation pink.
Contrasting fabrics and materials, such as copper foils on T-shirts or neoprene on bomber jackets,  add a luxury feel to the clothes, which stick to her sportwear ethos. The mesh tops and shorts, and the black fleece sweatpants are sure to be standouts on the sports court this summer.

Here, we get a preview to its forthcoming collection where pea coats and checkered blazers are layered with button-up shirts and paired with high-waisted pants. Unique dyes and rebellious michael c fina graphics take up on other shirts and sweaters, making reference to ’90s rave attire. Topman launched their men


Topman launched their men’s grooming and fragrance line today. The line includes 2 Eau de Parfums, “16″ and “27″, as well as hair putty, body wash, deodorant and a body spray. All body products are scented with the “27″ fragrance. Rather than license out the development or work with a big fragrance company, Topman brought in fragrance expert Azzi Glasser to develop top quality scents for an affordable price ($30). 16 is crisp and cool while 27 is smoky and warm.
When creating both fragrances, 16 and 27, was your primary consideration the Topman customer or pulling scents that felt fresh in the marketplace? Azzi Glasser: My main consideration was to make sure that we could produce two unique fragrances that have the quirky, edgy style of the Topman consumer as the brand’s philosophy had to be reflected in the designs, the scents, and the packaging. The high street fragrance market remained quite bland and boring at the time so this was a perfect gap to fill by adding originality and freshness with edge that would truly standout in a congested market. Both points are extremely important to me.
In what ways do 16 and 27 differ? Do you feel they have any similarities? jaeger lecoultre Azzi Glasser: jaeger lecoultre We wanted the fragrances to represent the male consumer that Topman Fashion appeals to, so it’s quite a broad market on that front. We came up with two fragrance themes: one is quite fresh, cool, creative and energetic, which is 16. [16's] key ingredients are pepper, amber and labdanum. The other, 27, is more sexy. it’s confident, creative, warmer and stylish, and the three key ingredients in there are vetiver, jaeger lecoultre sage, and cedar wood. They’re both quirky in their own right. You can wear either fragrance all day, but the idea is to have the two, mainly because for evening, guys might not to want to wear the same scent that they’ve been wearing all day, similar to the way they tend to change clothes when going out at night. Both fragrances are similar in the sense that they are both very creative and we have used high quality natural key ingredients that make the fragrance overall jaeger lecoultre more premium in the marketplace.
Most guys are either putting jaeger lecoultre on too much fragrance or too little – what is the right amount a guy should put on before leaving the house? Azzi Glasser: Difficult question to answer generally, as it depends on how strong the fragrance is and what the skin DNA is like so testing on oneself is always good first. However I can say after testing on so many different guys with the two Topman fragrances no.16 and 27 – jaeger lecoultre you can spray these as follows: One spray on either side of the neck, one on the chest and one on each wrist. For the evenings add a spray also to the middle and back of the neck and an extra spray on the chest. This should work perfectly.

The trusted denim jacket has been having a resurgence as of late with designers , artists and DIY kids putting their stamp on this all American item. Topman’s latest design project taps into this remixed denim revolution with their upcoming Denim Jacket Project.
For this exclusive design project, underground shoes Topman invited some of the most progressive designers from both sides of the Atlantic to rework this must-have piece. The line-up is made up of the cream of the British design crop, who have each shown as part of Topman underground shoes and Fashion East’s initiative, MAN. From the U.K. there are Oliver Spencer , Lou Dalton , Katie Eary and Shaun Samson as well as the most talked about talent to emerge from New York in recent times, the in-house Mark McNairy . The Topman Design team rounds up the impressive line up.
Oliver Spencer played with the form of a navy denim biker, underground shoes complete underground shoes with double asymmetric zip fastening, while Lou Dalton engineered French seams throughout that retain color during the washing process and add depth. Katie Eary describes her jacket as glamorous streetwear with detachable borg collar, gold finish metal work and animal print lining. Shaun Samson’s design is in keeping with his most recent F/W 12 show, using a sports-mesh back that he describes as both “covering up and revealing”. Mark’s design encompasses a cut-and-sew raw denim jacket fusing different jackets together to form one. Topman design looks at a classic underground shoes 1930s one-pocket jacket, staying true to its workwear origins underground shoes but with the addition of an allover polka dot print to make this classic underground shoes shape more contemporary.

Amy Leverton s 10 years of experience working in denim design and trend analysis have made her an undisputed expert on indigo. Her years of attending fabric and apparel shows and connecting and working with mills and laundries have provided her with vast industry connections. Needless to say, her jeans collection is pretty impressive, too.

British brands Topshop perkins restaurant and Topman will launch on the fast-growing fashion website Zalando. This will happen in September and is part of the brands expansion drive, as they will launch in selected European countries, not including the United Kingdom.
According to RetailWeek Topshop has long been a target of Asos – which you could call the British rival of German fashion site Zalando – but Topshop has so far opted not to sell its clothing on the website of Asos. Dedicated online shops for Topshop and Topman, both owned by British multinational retailing company Arcadia, will open on Zalando and offer a broad assortment of clothing, footwear and accessories. Customers can have their orders delivered for free, while returning goods also won t cost them a penny. The selections will be updated every two weeks.
The right stile for our European customers How many different products of the brand there will be at Zalando, David Schneider, member of Zalando s management board, did not say. But he was the first to say Topshop was a perfect perkins restaurant match for Zalando. Through working with brands as trend-driven as Topshop and Topman, Zalando gains momentum as the leading online fashion destination providing the right styles for our fashion-conscious customers in Europe.
The British labels will initially start in Zalando s core markets such as Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland, but no in the United Kingdom. To kick off the campaign, which will showcase the variety of the British brands autumn 2014 collection, Zalando is collaborating with twelve international bloggers from different cities throughout Europe.

A seasoned creative leader with over 20 years of experience in the design industry, Lizzy oversees smaragd the women s editorial staff and leads WGSN's comprehensive womenswear coverage, which produces over 600 analysis reports each season. Additionally, she serves as WGSN's spokesperson on runway smaragd trends for Fashion Week in New York, London, Milan and Paris. Lizzy has a successful history of developing and accelerating trend and design concepts for leading retail and fashion smaragd companies. Most recently, she served as Trend Director at Nordstrom, where she supported the creative direction of women's apparel, color, print, and materials.
As Director of Menswear, Jason oversees the men's editorial team and directs concise coverage for the menswear market. With 10 years of experience in New York City, Paris and London, he has the seasoned ability to successfully pinpoint subtle shifts in menswear. Currently based in WGSN's London office, he now tailors content with an international perspective for our list of global clients.
As Associate Editor, Deirdre works closely with Fashion Director of Womenswear, Lizzy Bowring, analyzing Women s Runway for upcoming seasons. Deirdre attended the Fashion Institute of Technology where she earned an Associate s degree in International Fashion Design and a Bachelor smaragd s degree in International Trade and Marketing.
