Reflective Practice
For some time now, Mike Greenaway (Play Wales) has been suggesting cosplay that I visited the play scheme he operated in Bishopston (Swansea). He told me to "bring a change of clothes!", But in the end, I was able to keep it dry and free of mud, it was quite amazing really, considering cosplay all the water play was going on!
This was not an occasion for intense and serious discussion cosplay with the children. Actually, cosplay I was lucky to get any attention at all, and who could blame the children for not paying much attention to the visitor here, except of course for me to ask for a jug of water or to tie shoelaces when there was no other staff around! But I got a chance to watch.
At first sight, there was great disorder in the children's play everything you'd want to see. Children have a wonderful time completely. And then there was the role of the staff is beginning to emerge. There must be a balancing act in allowing free play to happen in front of you. The children were playing, and this included discussing things, create new games, making sure that everyone gets a turn and test the limits of their physical abilities.
Workers would play not interfering or imply things but where appropriate, and they were, of course, has set the activities already considered how much flour was necessary to make the bread, where cooking should happen, the amount of soap should be available for the water slide, which materials could be used to make dens, as well as being vigilant to ensure that no one is wandering. But basically, the children were in control.
At the end of the session, and after the last child to go home, the whole team of staff sat down to reflect on the things that have worked well, and what would need to be changed or modified. They discussed some of the children individual play experience, consider cosplay how they might involve someone more, and how they might respond better to the needs of another child the next day. It was great to see such a good reflective practice occurs.
So, he left me with the afternoon at Bishopston impression that playing a tough job but brings a lot of satisfaction to adults, children and the love of it! If you leave a group of children blesio'u own, they will play, but if adults are considering how they can improve the experience of playing children, and facilitated, great things can happen.
The children were great, but paid tribute to Play Workers Plan Play Bishopston cosplay the blog here! People particularly that provided the kinds of opportunities that will provide these children with fond memories of their own childhood, enjoying warm sunny summer.
